About
I like food. Food is good.
In 1905, Concepcion Lazarito was born, and spent the next 102 years driving fear, preaching the importance of making the most of what you’ve got and always minding your manners, and most of all, cooking amazing meals for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She moved in with my parents before I was born, making her my second mother. She taught me the secret to a long life is rolling your own cigars (and smoking them until your doctor tells you to stop for the 102nd time), loving your family, and appreciating the fact that you have food on the table.
Food was, still is, and always will be, love in my family. This blog is named after my Lola (what we Filipinos call our grandmothers). Though our wallets were never fat, our circumstances often wacky and sometimes cruel, our table — her table — was always full. Of love.
